Acne and Eucalyptus Oil

Article by Brianna Mobilian

I have always loved just how fragrant essential oils are, and enjoy burning them in my home. The scents seem to transform my home into a serene wonderland. Besides the enchanting fragrances they provide, essential oils contain many properties that allow them to be useful in endless ways. If you enjoy living your life as holistically as I do, essential oils will become a staple in your home. I use them for cleaning, adding aroma to my laundry, first aid, and beauty treatments. Though there are many other uses for them I have yet to personally discover.

A long time ago, stress affected my skin so negatively.  At times, I didn’t realize how stressed I was until my face would break out.  If you have acne, you know that it’s a truly embarrassing skin condition. There wasn’t enough makeup I could use to give me the confidence that I lost from acne. What’s more was that I didn’t want to have to hide behind my makeup. I wished for a clear complexion that I could feel proud of. Acne seems to be a repetitive cycle that is not only damaging on the outside, but on the inside as well.  It is hard to feel your very best on the inside when you are ashamed of your skin. I wanted to break this toxic cycle and feel great in my own skin, literally.

Eucalyptus has always been one of my favorite essential oil fragrances, and is even better when blended with spearmint.  To me, the scent is truly intoxicating. Eucalyptus oil has many beneficial properties which include analgesic (pain relieving), antibacterial (combats bacteria), anti-inflammatory (reduces inflammation), antimicrobial (inhibits the growth of microorganisms), and antiviral (fights viruses).  It is easy to see how this essential oil is beneficial for acne and acne prone skin. For all of these reasons, I gave it a try and was so impressed with the results.

How to Use It:

Eucalyptus oil is a forceful astringent, so I like to mix it with water.

1. To make a eucalyptus spritzer, blend equal parts eucalyptus oil and water in a spray bottle.
2. Once you have thoroughly cleansed your skin, spray your face with this essential oil mixture.  Of course, be sure your eyes and mouth are closed when you are spritzing.
3. Leave this on your skin and allow it to penetrate deeply into your pores.

It is a blend that you will want to use several times per week.  Spray this natural remedy for naturally beautiful skin.
