Natural Remedies for Migraine

Article by Allison Monroe

Migraines can stop us in our tracks. Those that suffer from them know just how debilitating they can be. They also know that finding treatments that actually work can be a long frustrating process. Our bodies can often build up a tolerance for a drug when we take it enough, so finding a medicine and sticking with it doesn’t always work. Now, after certain migraine drugs have been recalled, some people are turning to natural solutions to find relief from their pain.

Magnesium:

When your body is low on certain minerals, you may not even notice. But, it’s been found, a lack of magnesium can lead to migraines and cluster headaches. While an infusion of the mineral has been found to stop the headache, it isn’t always the most convenient course of action.   Taking daily supplements can drop the frequency of the headaches b y 42 percent.

Omega 3’s:

While Omega 3’s have a laundry list of benefits, including memory and concentration improvement, they can also help kick those migraines. Taking them in supplement form can, like the magnesium, reduce headache causing inflammation.

Water:

While it should go without saying, your body needs water.  It will suffer when you are dehydrated. One of the ways it will suffer could be through a migraine. Quickly downing a few glasses of water as soon as you feel the headache coming on can stop it before it gets too severe. It’s also much easier to go to the sink than run out to the drugstore.

When you are in pain, you don’t always have to turn to your doctor or pharmacist for relief. By simply adding these 3 items to your daily diet, or turning to them when you sense a migraine coming on, you can significantly ease your pain, naturally.
